FeedSacks: The ColourfulHistory of a Frugal Fabric (originally published in 2016, reprint by Martingale in October 2019)
The interior content of the book is just the same as the 2016 edition but this reprint does not have a dust jacket.
Feedsacks are the perfect example of a utilitarian product turned into something beautiful. Author Linzee Kull McCray explores the history of the humble feedsack, from a plain burlap or cotton sack to exuberantly patterned and colourfulbags that were repurposed into frocks, aprons and quilts by thrifty housewives in the first half of the 20th century. Extensive imagery and at-scale reproductions of these fabrics create an inspiring sourcebook of pattern and colour—and offer a welcome visit to a slower-paced way of life.

So much of what we make is created by using various fibres. Knitting, crochet, weaving, sewing, embroidery, rug-making, macramé and many more crafts are made possible with yarn, thread and string.
This book gets up close and personal with fibre, telling the stories and processes from fibre farmers, thread and yarn companies to individual artisans. We'll look at natural fibres and how they are made, and how design plays a part in the visual appeal of fibre brands. We'll explore innovative fibres that repurpose and recycle our valuable resources.
Yarn-Thread-Stringhighlights artists, craftspeople and creative entrepreneurs who use these fibres in unique and inspiring ways. You'll gain a new and exciting perspective on what fibre is—and how we can use it to express our individuality, creativity and humanity.

Ever since she was a young girl, artist and illustrator Lisa Congdon has been obsessed with collecting. Having amassed a curious collection of objects, on January 1, 2010, she embarked on a year-long project: a daily documentation of arrangements of these items, posted online. “Most of the collections are real and exist in my home or studio; those I will photograph. Some are imagined; those I will draw or (occasionally) paint.”
