With your help,
Feed Sacks will be reprinted
in 2025.

This is the same book as originally released in 2016 and will come with a decorative dust jacket and belly band like the other books in the UPPERCASE Encyclopedia of Inspiration series. (Feed Sacks, without the dust jacket and band, was also released in 2019 by now-defunct Martingale Publishing. That version is also sold out.)

Please pre-order the book to raise funds for its reprinting. The sooner we reach the goal, the sooner we can go to print! Updates will be provided here and in the UPPERCASE weekly newsletter.

Feed Sacks:
The Colourful History of a Frugal Fabric

Feed sacks are the perfect example of a utilitarian product turned into something beautiful. Author Linzee Kull McCray explores the history of the humble feed sack, from a plain burlap or cotton sack to exuberantly patterned and colourful bags that were repurposed into frocks, aprons and quilts by thrifty housewives in the first half of the 20th century. Extensive imagery and at-scale reproductions of these fabrics create an inspiring sourcebook of pattern and colour—and offer a welcome visit to a slower-paced way of life.

About this Crowdfunding Campaign

Why pre-orders?

UPPERCASE is committed to reprinting this book. Ideally, we can meet the crowdfunding goal to cover the physical costs of the reprint. At 544 pages on 100% post-consumer recycled stock, plus the dust jackets and bands—all printed in Canada—this book is expensive to produce! Pre-orders also give us a good idea for the demand and will help determine the quantity we reprint.

How do I follow along?

The crowdfunding progress will be automatically updated on this page, so check back to see how it's going!

Please also sign up for my
newsletter for the latest news about this and other projects.

How soon will I get my book?

We've set the crowdfunding timeframe to 4 months of pre-orders, with the last day of the campaign as April 1st, 2025. Should we fund the campaign sooner, we will start the reprint then. The process of reprinting and sending books to customers will take at least 2 months after the book is sent to the printer. Schedule details will be posted here as they are available.

Where do you ship?

We ship in Canada and the USA. We can ship internationally to the UK, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Asia. Shipping costs will be calculated during checkout. If you're in the UK, the reprint will be available through Central Books in London approximately 6 weeks after its release here in Canada.

What are the risks?

UPPERCASE has a great track record! We've produced 12 original books in the Encyclopedia series with Botanica reprinted twice, Ephemera reprinted once and Print/Maker reprinted once. There could be unforeseen delays in production or shipping.

If you don't like not knowing when precisely you'll receive your book, please refrain from ordering at this time
